For our customers, The Fibreworks will continue much as before but with some small tweaks to our opening hours. From 1 January we will no longer open on Mondays; we'll be open Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm. Knit groups will continue unchanged on Tuesdays from 2 - 4pm and on Wednesdays from 6 - 8pm.
After six years as co-founder of The Fibreworks, Lesley has decided to retire from the business and to devote more time to her work as an artist. She will be much missed but we're pleased to say that she will remain involved in knit groups. She has made a huge contribution to the creative direction of The Fibreworks and I'm sure you will all join in wishing her well in her future artistic adventures.

And finally the sun came out ... just in time for our annual Fibre Festival last Saturday. This year we put the spotlight on young, local makers and entrepreneurs, celebrating their creativity and giving them an opportunity to discuss, demonstrate and sell their work. So this morning our little street was filled with colour and music as two Black Morris groups arrived in Chipping Norton and performed a series of dances. The Dead Horse Morris and Broomdashers had arranged their annual meet up with fellow enthusiasts from Derbyshire and we were treated to an amazing array of costumes and, most notably, hats. Each top hat is individually decorated by its owner to reflect their personality and life experiences. Thanks to support from Rowan Yarns, we were able to host a stunning exhibition of 25+ original Kaffe Fassett knits in our studio on Saturday 29 April. We were also delighted to welcome Rowan Consultant Avril Best to lead a colour knitting workshop which took place in the awe-inspiring setting of St Mary's Church, here in Chipping Norton.
Such a brilliant weekend with Anne Kelly here at The Fibreworks! First, on Friday, a full-day workshop with five students working on the theme of Folk Trees. Then, on Saturday, we took over Chipping Norton's Parish Rooms to host a morning workshop making bird postcards, followed by an exhibition of Anne's work alongside that of our students upstairs in our studio. It's always fascinating to see the work they produce and incredibly exciting to see how inspired they've been to develop their ideas further after the workshops. Introducing Glowworm, a brilliant yarn with a reflective filament so it appears to glow in the dark when light shines on it. Perfect for children's hats and scarves and indeed for cyclists - helping keep people safe on dark mornings and evenings. Two great colourways and a series of quick and easy patterns for kids and adults.
