A quilter is born

We received this lovely message from Clare this morning:

Thank you for organising such a great course last week.  It took a few extra days but I've finished the sampler!

Next step is to plan my second quilt project!

Thank you for keeping us fuelled with tea and biscuits, I don't think we would have got nearly so far or enjoyed the experience so much without your hospitality.  Your amazing stash of fabrics was a complete eye opener and a real inspiration.

I hope you repeat the intensive course structure again, I started as a complete novice without any idea about how quilts are made and have left feeling inspired and with the skills to make more quilts in the future.

And just look at her finished quilt!

Summer quilting course

Our first quilting 'residential' took place last week with stunning results achieved by our four intrepid novice quilters.  In just three days, they produced 9 panels to make a sampler quilt and learnt a raft of techniques, including applique, machine piecing, etc, which will stand them in good stead when they 'go solo' and make their next quilt.

Five talented girls yesterday made their own screen-printed tote bags with Emma Pearson of Mabel & Bird.  Some carry their initials, one is destined as a knitting bag and the yellow beach ball bag is heading for a summer holiday.

More printing with Emma coming up soon when she teaches lino printing onto fabric on Saturday 24 August.

Late on Monday afternoon  the Chipping Norton skies send a deluge of water at a sideways angle into the our rear window seat...patterns and books, some dating from the 1930's  and 50's were dostroyed. All our back issues of Mollie Makes and some rare Kaffe Fassett oldie's too...:-(

Forgive us when you come to the shop as we are trying to salvage some of the remaing books and magazines.
